Some disobedience shown by young children is part of normal development, as their personality is being formed.
However persistent and frequent oppositional behaviour can lead to disruption at home and school. In these circumstances it is difficult for the child to develop normally accepted social behaviour.
This behaviour may inhibit the development of friendships and social skills, and poor self esteem may result.
Early treatment of child disobedience
Dr Rundle is aware of many causes of this behaviour for which early rectification is important.
Possibly causes might, for example, be impaired hearing, speech and language disorders and autistic spectrum disorder. Where necessary, specialist referrals can be made, although most often Dr Rundle can advise parents how to obtain better cooperation from their children thereby raising the confidence levels of both child and parent(s).
