Toilet training

Most children achieve satisfactory toilet training between two and four years. Dr Rundle often sees children where this has not been achieved, and can advise parents in the best approach according to the age of the child.

Daytime wetting

Daytime wetting can occur after toilet training has been achieved at a younger age. Dr Rundle will try and understand the possible causes which may be physical or emotional.

Night-time bedwetting

Up to the age of five years night-time bedwetting is not unusual as about 30% of children have not achieved dryness at night by this age.

By the age of seven years about 5-10% of children still wet the bed frequently. This can be distressing for both the child and parent and can inhibit the social life for the child for overnight parties and school trips.

Causes of child toilet problems

Soiling of underclothes is not unusual and may be associated with constipation. Other possible causes are dietary or behavioural. Dr Rundle can advise on overcoming these conditions which usually results in improvements to obtain a satisfactory result.
